A few of our Phase One residents have graciously shared their views about and experiences from their first ninety days of sobriety.  Using only their initials to protect their privacy, their statements are below.

  • Most helpful aspect of Arise: “The connections I made with people.”
  • Did you accomplish your goals set at admission? “Yes. I have exceeded my goals. I didn’t know what I was capable of.”
  • Would you recommend Arise? "Yes. I truly believe these people care about your recovery.”
  • Significant changes that have taken place at Arise: “Coming to realize that I’m actually not the bad person that I had convinced myself that I was. Learning how to live clean by using the tools I been given…and the steps. “The freedom of a bit of peace of mind.”

  • Did you accomplish your goals set at admission? “Yes. I have “a good job, vehicle, sobriety, [and I am] working [the] steps.”
  • Would you recommend Arise? "Yes. [Arise] helped me greatly and is a good place compared to others I’ve experienced.”
  • Significant changes that have taken place at Arise: “Arise has been a great place…I’ve made good friends and begun to build a foundation for my recovery and the rest of my life. I…enjoy my recovery and [have] built a network in the area that plays a big part in my recovery. The structure and support… [have] helped me create new habits…and grow mentally and spiritually.”

  • Reason for Admission to Arise: I needed “help with [his] life” and “structure.” He wanted “a new way to live.”
  • The most helpful aspect of Arise: Learning about my “disease of addiction” and “how to live in a therapeutic community.” 
  • Did you accomplish your goals set at admission? "Yes. I got a job, “completed Phase 1,” and established “new relationships.”
  • Would you recommend Arise? "Yes. If they are ready to change...you need [what] Arise offers from staff to 12-Steps.
  • Significant changes that have taken place while in Phase I: “Arise has taught me to live in a community…. I’m more responsible…accountable…and have integrity now, something I lacked before coming [here].” Arise “has taught me and shown me a new way to live…and helped me build a foundation and is showing me how to build my new life…. [I am] working the 12-Steps and applying [its] principles to my daily life. I’m so grateful for Arise and what it offers.”

  • Would you recommend Arise? "Yes. Because [Arise] will reintroduce you to life and how it should be.”
  • Significant changes that have taken place at Arise: I “really enjoyed all the groups. Each…had a vital role…showed me things I did not want to look at in my own life.”

  • Significant changes that have taken place at Arise: “Helped me to see…my path. [I] established a better relationship with my higher power. …Taught me more discipline in life [and] in my recovery.
